My colleague and good friend, Dr. Dionne Kress, and I have been routinely meeting to design a peer advisory-style group for high-achieving senior level leaders that we’ll soon launch. We’ve deliberately named the group “EXPOSED” to reflect the intent of and the climate we’ll cultivate for this group.

Leaders of diverse sectors convene in a brave, compassionate & nurturing community space with facilitated discussion about the relatable realities that senior-level leaders navigate. They share raw leadership experiences and challenges, gain deep insights from empathetic subject matter experts, adopt sustainable, meaningful practices for authentic leadership, and holistic health and wellness, expand alliances and supportive networks, and strategize the allocation of resources for optimal results.

As we’ve been preparing for the group, we’ve recognized the value in acknowledging the influence of our upbringing on who we are and how we bring ourselves into the workplace.

In a podcast that we recently recorded, Dionne and I exchanged our stories of childhood, youth and young adulthood- sparking our paths to leadership and women entrepreneurs. We spoke of the role of gender, family, society, institutions and culture. Quite an awakening conversation!

How about you? Have you ever reflected on how your upbringing influences how you approach your days, your work, and your strengths, your gut, and your responses?

Love to hear your thoughts or reflections!

Be well!
