Wilfulness Wednesday- Seventeenth Edition

I’m just back from a sunrise walk and I am bursting with content for this week’s blog…

I treasure walks- they afford me peace, appreciation for Mother Nature’s gifts, and space to allow for creativity and personal growth.  I pop in my earbuds, select a podcast that aligns with the messaging I’d like to nourish my soul with, and just walk. This is sacred time to invest in me- a morning rhythm I treasure.

What’s your morning rhythm?

You might be asking- what do you mean by “morning rhythm”?

A morning rhythm is a daily strategy to regenerate yourself and spark vibe for the whole day. It’s a time to focus on what matters most and build clarity within your body and mind, and congruence between your feelings, thoughts and actions before your day often bombarded with noise and distraction. It can take as little as 5 minutes or as many as your preferred morning rhythm activity requires!

It signals your body and psyche that “I’m worthy of self-care and putting myself first.” It allows for introspection to uncover boundaries that need to be set or feelings/unspoken words that need to be shared.

What’s a morning rhythm you can design to better position you for a more gratifying day?

Following my purpose and harmony paradigm, consider these things as you design your morning rhythm

PURPOSE

·         What’s your goal?  Be honest with yourself in your “why” for embracing a morning rhythm.  For some it may help carve out time for self. For some it may be to support physical, mental, social or spiritual well-being.  For others, it may be more performance or productivity- oriented

·         How do you want to feel throughout the day that a morning rhythm can kickstart? Perhaps focused, calm, grateful, energized?

HARMONY

·         Choose the specific activities that will support your goal and cultivate those feelings you identified above. The number of activities is irrelevant- keep it simple and realistic- activities that you can commit to doing.

  •  Identify a space in which to keep present with yourself
  • What do you first look at (avoid it being your phone or computer), put into your mouth (aim for 17 oz. of water to wake your nurture your organs) and listen to?

I would love to hear how your morning rhythms make for a more gratifying day for you.  Please comment or connect with me @ meichlelatham.com
